The Statehouse

For government to function correctly, our civic leaders as well as we, the citizens, must know the difference between good and bad, right and wrong. This is known by understanding that there are absolute truths established by God. These truths cannot, must not, be compromised.

Many Christians do not know that the relationship between Christianity and American law is rooted in centuries of development preceding and culminating in the Declaration of Independence! Our government is derived from a charter that establishes a representative government with checks and balances upon its own power and position. Its ultimate authority is God, through Godly people who have inherited the privilege to select (or remove) their representative leaders. The state is subordinate to God, through God’s natural laws. The Constitution of the United States presumes that civic leaders honor God in everything they do. It also presumes that the people they lead understand such a mandate. In this critical respect, American government is unique. At its root level, it is an experiment in how well our culture remembers God.

We at Truth, Values & Leadership, believe that much of our culture has forgotten God. Danny Carroll, an experienced former statesman, has a plan for better public policy, more credible civic leadership and a more deeply informed voting citizenry. The local church is the key to the plan. Here are the general components:

  • Teaching within the church the role of Christianity in our heritage.
  • Producing within the church future civic leaders who fear God and behave accordingly.
  • Encouraging pastors and their people to ask tough questions of candidates.
  • Informing the local church and making it the real filter of Godly character.
  • Introducing candidates to informed local churches.
  • Teaching existing and future civic leaders how public policy can be built in God-honoring ways
  • Executing public policy through those who hold non-negotiable truths.

When the local church accepts our Christian heritage and then does something about it, our churches, our families and our state will recover.
