Many Christians do not know that the relationship between Christianity and American law is rooted in centuries of development preceding and culminating in the Declaration of Independence! Our government is derived from a charter that establishes a representative government with checks and balances upon its own power and position. Its ultimate authority is God, through Godly people who have inherited the privilege to select (or remove) their representative leaders. The state is subordinate to God, through God’s natural laws. The Constitution of the United States presumes that civic leaders honor God in everything they do. It also presumes that the people they lead understand such a mandate. In this critical respect, American government is unique. At its root level, it is an experiment in how well our culture remembers God.
We at Truth, Values & Leadership, believe that much of our culture has forgotten God. Danny Carroll, an experienced former statesman, has a plan for better public policy, more credible civic leadership and a more deeply informed voting citizenry. The local church is the key to the plan. Here are the general components:
When the local church accepts our Christian heritage and then does something about it, our churches, our families and our state will recover.

From January 1984 to December 1994 he served on the Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors. From 1994 to 2006 he served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives rising to the position of Speaker Pro Tem from 2002 to 2006. He served as state co-chair of the Huckabee for President Campaign in 2008.
During his service in the Iowa House, Danny focused on issues dealing with Medicaid services, adult mental health issues, and various other local government programs. In March 2005 he successfully led the passage in the House of a proposed constitutional amendment that would have protected marriage in Iowa.
From 2008 to 2010 Danny served as Chairman of the Board at the Iowa Family Policy Center. Under his leadership the organization transitioned to what is now known as The Family Leader. He is currently an independent contractor working for The Family Leader as a legislative liaison at the State Capitol. In addition Danny is a frequent speaker at church, community and state events, often discussing the need for a return to Biblical values in the public and political arena.
Danny and his wife Joy live in Grinnell and for the past 20 years have owned and operated Carroll’s Pumpkin Farm. He has been an Elder at the Grinnell Christian Church for the past 30 years. In addition he has worked as a Real Estate Broker and, until 2010, he was Director of Community Relations for Iowa Telecom. He received his undergraduate degree from Milligan College (Johnson City, Tennessee) in 1975.
